What Is It?
There are plenty of non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques to enhance your appearance. Fillers and injectables, better known as Botox, Restylane, and Juvederm, are used as an alternative to surgery. An injectable is soft tissue filler, better known as collagen. Fat may also be used.
Why Have It?
Cosmetic injectable fillers can plump thin lips, enhance shallow facial contours, soften facial creases and wrinkles, or improve the appearance of recessed scars. Unlike collagen injections, Botox can even treat deep lines, creases and dynamic wrinkles. Both are effective ways to reduce wrinkles, diminish acne scarring and regain a more youthful appearance.
How Does It Work?
Botox mainly targets the muscle contractions that are linked to the facial creases that have to do with one’s expression. Botox is often used in addition to dermal fillers to help with wrinkles, frown lines, scarring, surface damage to the skin, and hollowness of the face.
When injected underneath the skin, the fillers plump up unwanted lines and hollowness throughout the face.
Where Is It?
The injection may be made on many different parts of the face, including the lips and around the mouth. The procedure takes minutes, and when finished, patients may continue to carry on with their normal daily routines as soon as they walk out the door.
Botox, is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments being used today. It is an injection using Clostridium botulinum, a purified natural protein. It is performed in a series of injections in small doses. Botox works by blocking the path from the nerve to the muscle, lessening muscle contractions. Unlike the collagen injections, Botox can even treat deep lines, creases and dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are the natural creases people are born with that maintain our facial expression. They are connected to the muscles and are constantly used during facial movement. The results usually last three to six months and can be repeated as needed.
Although the results are satisfying and there is absolutely no downtime, this process may not be permanent, as it is eventually metabolized in most cases. Results vary from person to person, lasting anywhere from a few weeks to indefinitely based on the patient’s age, genetics, skin, and lifestyle.
